I’ve always wanted to draw a rice cooker! Inspired by the vintage Panasonic ones with beautiful botanical illustrations. I decided on a native pua that represents Hawaiʻi, maʻo hau hele or the yellow hibiscus, our state flower. Blending two cultures together is a consistent theme in my art, hence the simple title of “Hapa Rice.”
